Spring Fever!

Spring Fever! 11 x 13" colored pencil/pastel pencils

I originally completed this piece two years ago as a colored pencil piece on brown Colorfix sanded paper. It never felt quite finished.

I have been rereading Carole Katchen's book on pastels "Express Yourself" and just felt like playing. So I took my pastel pencils to this and I am much happier with the feeling conveyed.

This wild expression seems to be appealing to me lately, see "Psycho Pear", an earlier post. My approach is usually very realistic and I'm sure I will go back to that, it's just that I needed to express myself.

Cindy, I remember seeing you work on this one and I love how it turned out! The textures are beautiful! I think you should do more of these.

Cindy,
Lovely piece...it has such an illusive quality, very nice. This is different from your other works. I really like it's softness.

I really like this too. The colors just glow, it has such a warm feeling. You should work with pastels more often!

Thank you Beth, I am working on another cp piece that was too dark on the colorfix paper, but it's not going as easily as this one did. I feel another "learning curve" around the corner for me.

Thank you Regina and Jan! I was hoping for it to look impressionistic.

Hey Marsha, thanks for stopping in and commenting! When it was a cp piece I just hadn't taken it to where it could go in terms of softness and energy. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Fun to just "let go" once in a while.

Hi Ann! Thank you for your nice comments!

And you express yourself very beautifully. I really like this style, Cindy. Impressionistic, thought provoking, meaningful--a different side of you. Lovely. You're "playing" nicely. ;-D
