25th Annual All Colorado Exhibit

Tonight was the reception for the exhibit at Curtis Arts & Humanities. Two of my buds from the Denver Chapter of the CPSA were also selected for the exhibit, Dorothy DiPaulo and Heidi Snyder. We were the only 3 colored pencil artists in the show and it IS a wonderful show. Dorothy and I decided we were in really, really good company.

The reception was packed which is always fun and I noticed some red sales stickers early in the evening.

The awards will be announced at the lecture by juror, Gwen Chanzit, Ph. D., curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Denver Art Museum, on June 26th at 6:30.

The exhibit closes August 1st.
This is also my first photo with my new braces...I had a hard time figuring out how to smile ;-)

You look good with your new hardware! (Actually, unless you'd said something, I wouldn't have noticed.) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to get top awards in your show.

Hi Susan...thank you! Most people don't notice the hardware. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for an award, but the "reward" was just being in the show and enjoying the reception. OK....an "award" would be awesome ;-)

Hi Teresa, thank you! I don't know about a red sticker, would also be awesome, but a gentleman at the reception actually engaged me in a conversation about "string theory", which was so fun....he actually got the concept. ;-) And he liked the piece!

Hi Cindy. I thought I commented on this the other day, but I think it was swallowed up in the deep dark hole in the internet! But I wanted to tell you how pretty you are with your new hardware! When I wore them, back in the fifth grade, I was in the ugly, awkward stage! It was terrible!
Congratulations on the show. String Theory has done very well!

Thank you Beth.....most days I don't feel so pretty in them...even at 60 I still feel awkward. Do we ever recover from the feelings we had as teenagers???

Well done Cindy - and I'd have never noticed the new hardware if you hadn't said!

I like the understated framing - it really suits that piece

Thanks Katherine! I do like how the hardware looks. I will reserve final judgement when the orthodontist puts the bottom brackets on. I have to wait for awhile until the tops do "something".

Glad you like the framing. For such a contemporary piece...I felt this suited it best.

Congratulations on being selected for the show.
Thanks to your inspiration, I have a colored pencil work in a local juried show. I did the initial drawing with white on black Mi-Tients paper and then worked the colors for some purple coneflowers. It kept me occupied while feeling ill earlier this year & I never would have done something like that without seeing your inspiring work along with your generous "how-to".
Thanks again!
