Back After Two Weeks

"Three Pumpkins and Unintentionally Detached Stem" 12" x 16" Pastels on Sanded Board
(Now available for sale on my Etsy shop Littleton Studio)

I haven't been able to get any drawing done, and I even missed my much-loved class for two weeks. Had a bout with the flu (even after my flu shot!).

Last night I made it to class and finished my pumpkin painting. It felt so good to feel good and paint....and to throw that stupid stem away that's been in my trunk for about a month. :-)

I was out of practice standing at the easel, and I see I have some of my lights and darks confused but all in all it's the first piece that I could frame coming out of my class work.

I've also had a little time to work on this piece "Pot, Pepper and Onions" in colored pencil. I'm having trouble getting enthused about this when I see what rich colors I can get with pastels, but I will finish it.

Your pastel pieces are so exciting to watch. It looks like you are having a great time doing them. I do like the cp piece too, though. It has an old world feel to it that's very elegant. Glad you are feeling better :)

I wondered where you had gotten off to! I'm glad you are feeling better. I've been sick this past week too, but I don't think mine was the flu, just a bad head cold.

Your pumpkins turned out very pretty! Love the mood.

Hi Cindy,
I am so glad that you are feeling better.
Fantastic pumkins! Incredible use of colour and you display a real mastery of the pastel medium. As a viewer, the joy that you experienced working on this piece comes across. Wonderful. No wonder the cp piece is less than thrilling these days. :-)

Hi Ann, I'm struggling with how bland the color pencil work looks next to the pastels. I think I might just have to get crazy with the pencils. ;-)

Hi Beth! Hope you are feeling better. How's school? Thanks for the comments!

Hi Teresa, good to hear from you. I don't know about mastery :-o but I am have a very joyful time.
