Acrylic Underpainting for Circular Stroke-WIP

The workshop is tomorrow, I'm prepared......and taking lots of chocolate in case they are an unruly bunch ;-) I know I have at least one "wild woman" in the group.

I hope to create some new art next week, but for now I thought I would share a WIP. This is done on hot press w/c paper, with an acrylic underpainting. The "riled up" tooth after the liquidy acrylic is applied supplies a great surface for colored pencil. Pears (8" x 7") Colored Pencil on Acrylic Donated to PBS Auction 2006

I chose the purple underpainting for the pears so the fleck of Purple would show through the Yellow complement. The table was painted with a dark brown acrylic, so that the oranges would make a nice coppery color.

I just found your blog while bouncing around the blogging world,I ended up at Scribbles and just happened to click on your blog. You have beautiful work, I have been finding the under painting to be interesting and its nice to see someone showing pictures of it being used.
I just got tagged by another blogger and I wouldn't mind hearing more about you, as well as sending people your way to see what you do. So-o you're tagged, stop at my blog to see what it is about.
Anyways I think I will link to you so I can watch what you do. Have a great weekend.

Is that the WC ref - I think I tried it once with complementaries too - but it didn't work nearly so well as this. Do you have any preference as to which acylic works best with CP or are they all much of a muchness?

Hi Paulette, Thank you for stopping by and commenting. Please come back again. I've was tagged last week as well and haven't gotten around to responding to the one, but I will try to figure out what that means??

Hi Katherine, yes, it is the WC reference. I cropped it a bit differently. I have tubs of acrylic craft paint by Delta Ceramcoat, and find that it works best. I tried Liquitex but I must not have had it watered down properly as it was too slick and the cp wouldn't adhere. I want to try Golden acrylics and water them down to see if they work as well.

It's great fun Beth! Thanks!

Hi Cindy,
It is up to you if you are interested in doing a tag. Basically you tell five things about yourself that other people might not know and then you tag five other bloggers.
I guess it is a networking thing, mostly I find it is an interesting way of seeing who else is out there blogging about their art.
That work shop looks like it was a lot of fun, to bad you are so far away.

I'm also new to your blog & sent the link to my artist friends. I will add your link to my blog because your posts are so beautiful & informative.
My cp experience is limited, but I could learn a lot from you. Wish I lived closer to take your workshop.
Blessings to you!

Hi Regina, that's very nice of you to spread the news about my artwork and blog around. I do sooooo appreciate it!

I do travel occasionally to do workshops, so stay tuned and you never know when I will be close by.

Last November I taught a workshop aboard the Dawn Princess. It was a Colored Pencil Cruise. Check www.annkullberg.com if you haven't seen her website before. She has another cruise coming up.
