The agave painting is done! I had to switch back to my Coloursoft pencils. The coverage I was getting from my Lightfast Prismacolors just wasn't what I wanted.
Now time to move on to the next painting. Not sure what that will be just yet...but I'm already to start a new one.
Thanks for your feedback! (Hi Bernice! Julie said you have been watching my blog ;-)

Agave - WIP
The underpainting is completely done and now ready for colored pencil.
I've started applying cp (using my set of Lightfast CP's by Prismacolor). I'm keeping the background quite abstract. It looks a little like a campfire right now. I'm hoping it turns out, but one just never knows when you work like this. It's fun!!

New Work! Agave - WIP
I started a new colored pencil piece this afternoon, the resource is from the Cacti del Mundo in Cabo San Lucas taken last November on my cruise. I've jazzed up the color and the values in PhotoShop. The original photo is gray and dull.
I'm once again using Neocolor II's and Inktense to do the underpainting on a 11 x 14 piece of
Ampersand pastelboard. This shows the background of Neo II's dry.

The following pic is the Neocolor II's wet.
And the final pic for tonight is the Inktense dry. Tomorrow I will use my water color brush and smoosh (technical term) the color around in preparation for starting the cp.

Finally!! Taxes and a Painting Done
Pears and Cherries 11" x 14" Colored Pencil
It feels so good to be finished with this....OK, I'll admit it will probably be tweaked here and there until it goes to an exhibit. It's just what I do.
And taxes finally done! I was holding my breath until the final line came up on the screen. The accountant said "New shoes for Mamma!". Not expensive shoes....but new shoes nonetheless.

A Bit of Progress - Pears and Cherries
I'm making a bit of progress, but I've had a nasty cold that has taken up residence in my body.
I'm willing it to go away!
My green olives with red pimentos are slowly going away, and I am working on the color in the left pear. Then I'll finish the cherries. After that, I will go back and add as much color as I can without going "neon" and ta-da...I'll be done. I'm very ready to move on, although I have enjoyed this approach to colored pencil immensely.
