This painting gets it's name in part from my younger sister. There is a pattern I used that has special meaning to us.
Today's painting is also a little smaller (6 x 6) than my first ones. I am prepping a canvas that is 12 x 12" for tomorrow's work. That's a pretty large canvas for me.

|"Pinks and Polka-Dots"|
Mixed Media on 8 x 8" Canvas Panel
When I was a little girl I told some rather tall tales. My parents would ask me "is this a Cindy story?"
So in honor of my lovely childhood, I'll be working in whimsy a little while longer. Besides I have all of these art supplies now for mixed media....can't let them go to waste.
It may not be high art, but it satisfies my soul and most importantly gets me up in the morning and back in the studio.

In my seemingly never-ending challenge to get back in my painting groove, I decided to do a little experimenting. I was inspired by a demo I saw on Pinterest awhile back which involved watercolor, acrylic paint, acrylic inks and paint pens.
I was intrigued by the process, because it's all out of your imagination. I've always felt I needed to look at an object in order to paint it. This was more akin to finding your objects and creating negative space. There was something very freeing about just trying to figure out where to go next with the painting.
For my first experiment in this process I am fairly pleased. More importantly, I can't wait to get to the next try at it.
